The use of laser scanning in shipbuilding is a technology that helps shipyards deliver projects faster, more efficiently and with less risk. The key to competitive utilization lies in being able to capture the vessel "in operation" in 3D quickly, accurately and inexpensively. The early availability of detailed and accurate 3D studies from laser scan data enables shipyards to move forward with project planning, renovation design and procurement of materials ready to start work as soon as the ship arrives at the dock repair. Using the scan helps to shorten downtime.

The Laser Scanner can capture complex and surfaces as a dense 3D scan data. This allows performing non-contact, 3D inspections with ease. Non-contact 3D scanning can digitize features such as flush and gap that are difficult to inspect with contact methods. Design. The designer can use laser capture to complete the design by integrating existing and new objects, running collision detections, and creating drawings and other production facilities.
